A Christmas Day message from the Moderator

Published on 27 December 2024 59 seconds read

A message from the Moderator of the General Assembly on this special day.

Rt Rev Dr Shaw Paterson extends warm Christmas greetings to one and all.

Shaw Paterson
Merry Christmas.

He said: "Jesus brought into our world hope, peace, joy and love - represented by the candles lit on the four Sundays of Advent.

"As we look around us, as we see the difficulties and tensions, the conflicts and wars, as we see the needs that exist all around us, this world of ours needs to experience those gifts of God: hope, peace, joy and love.

"Be blessed this Christmas and I pray that there might be hope, peace, joy and love in the lives of everyone for we are all God's children.

"May the Lord bless you and keep you, may the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you, may the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.

"Amen."

Thank you for joining us as we prepared the way for the Lord this Advent.

From all of us at the Church of Scotland, we wish you and your family a very merry and peaceful Christmas.
